Part 2: The Instagrammer’s Guide to Road Tripping Ireland

This is part 2 of the The Instagrammer’s Guide to Road Tripping Ireland! See part 1 here and scroll to the bottom to check out part 3. Enjoy!

The route

Day 5: West Cork

West Cork stole a piece of my heart last October and I have yet to find a place in Ireland that brings as much peace as this gorgeous region. If you happen to visit this area be sure to spend a night at the Top of the Rock Pods and take a hike along Sheep’s Head Way (my favorite hike in all of Ireland).

Hike along the Sheep’s Head Way

Visit the most south-westerly corner of Ireland at Mizen Head

Stroll around breathtaking Gougane Barra

Day 6: Kerry and Dingle

The ring of Kerry is famous among tourists in Ireland and as a result is quite busy. I haven’t visited the region yet (looking to go in June!), but this post from Travel Fearlessly does a great job of showcasing the differences between the Ring of Kerry and the Dingle Peninsula. If you can only squeeze in one, be sure to check it out! And if you are up for a rocky boat ride, be sure to check out The Whole World is a Playground’s post on the Skellig Michael. Personally, I’m dying to go horseback riding in Dingle so might have to prioritize Dingle over Kerry in June!

Tour around the Gap of Dunloe

Go waterfall hunting in Killarney National Park

Experience the majestic Kerry Cliffs

Check out the surfing at Ballybunnion Beach

Take a boat to the Skellig Islands

 Day 7: Aran Islands

If you are prone to seasickness or don’t like flying on a tiny plane, the Aran Islands might not be the place for you. But, if you can manage either one of these be sure to check out these perfect islands. Learn more on my post detailing our experience ferrying over to Inishmore

Day 8: County Clare

As the home of the Cliffs of Moher, County Clare ends up on most tourist bucket lists. But, did you know that there are other amazing things to explore in this county? Check out As We Saw It’s post on alternatives to the Cliffs of Moher

Go for a walk along Kilkee Cliff Walk

Hike on top of the Cliffs of Moher

See the Cliffs of Moher from a brand new angle

Explore the Burren

Ireland is the perfect place for a road trip. This isn't your typical "road-trip guide", but is filled with some of the most instaworthy corners of the Emerald Isle.
