One of my new year’s resolutions this year is to work on improving my photography to “tell a story.” I’ve done a pretty good job of capturing moments, but in my opinion the pictures I have mastered are more “look, and move on” type photos. To teach myself the technical, artistic, and story-telling pieces of photography I have decided to join in on the Dogwood 52-week photography challenge. Every Sunday I’ll post a photo (or photos) that I took that week and that meet the challenge requirements, explain how I felt about that particular week, and any tips/tricks to help anyone else interested in learning more about the technique for that week.
Week 3 – Artistic: Land
Every Saturday morning I sit with my cup of coffee in bed and scroll through blog posts from some of my favorite bloggers. I love blogs with strong photography and ReneeRoaming is one of my favorites. Her pictures are just plain beautiful. When I came across her post on how to take stunning photos as a couple, I knew I had to get my tripod out and try this nifty trick myself. The hubs and I packed up our camera bag and headed out to Howth, one of our favorite spots in Dublin, to not only play around with our “couple photos”, but also to take some cool land shots. The theme that I chose this week was “Land meets Sea”. Enjoy!
This week was so much fun. Not only did I get to spend some quality time with the hubs, we also had a blast trying to find cool spots to take a shot. As I finish this post all teary eyed I’m looking so forward to the rest of this year not only diving deeper into photography, but growing together with the love of my life.
This week’s challenge difficulty: 2/10
Next week’s challenge: Tell a story with a mirror. I think I got a good picture of this today so stay tuned for next week’s post!
If you have any feedback (or want to join in!) let me know! I’d love to feature other aspiring travel photographers in this series.
